The SG Standard '61 reintroduces the traditional look that made it so popular, played, and loved throughout generations and musical genres. The Les Paul model was discontinued in 1961, and a completely new design emerged as the SG, or "solid guitar." The Gibson SG Standard '61 has a short taper mahogany neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard, much like the original. Deeply carved body scarfing, a 5-ply teardrop pickguard, and a 22nd-fret neck joint distinguish the mahogany body. A classic-style Tune-O-Matic bridge and keystone tuners are among the nickel-plated hardware. 61R and 61T humbuckers provide a classic tone with enhanced power and top end.
