Do you love your pedals? But are you tired of carrying an amp around to practice or perform? The Strymon Iridium, a pedal-sized amplifier, gives you tube staging, tone stack, and touch response. It also has three cabinet options. The Class A JFET preamp of Iridium handles your guitar and stomps like a real tube amp. The analog front end feeds an efficient 2-stage DSP processor, which accurately approximates the tube bias and cone compression. The Strymon is as comfortable and responsive as your favorite combos, whether you are playing blues through an American 1x12 inch amp or soaring through a British high-watt amplifier. The preset switch allows the Iridium to function as a 2-channel amp, while 300 additional channels are available via the MIDI switch. A front-mounted headphone jack allows you to monitor your own performance directly from the stage.

Three Tube Amps

Strymon's Matrix Modeling technology allows you to create compelling virtualizations from three of the most iconic tube amps. Here's what's inside:

Round: The Normal channel of an American 1x12 inch is the basis for Round's high-headroom, mid-scooped character, and gentle tube breaking up. The Iridium's Midrange Control is unique to the circuit: at noon, you get all of the original tone stack's chunk and quack. Tweed-era tones begin to emerge at higher values. The Iridium has a velvety texture that you won't be able to get from the real thing due to the additional gain at the top end.

Chime: The British Invasion owes a lot to this 30-watt combo's TB channel. The Chime channel, which is lower in gain, sounds jangly, present, and has great touch dynamics. It also has a sweet harmonic breakup. You can run it hot to get all the gain from the dimed original. A frequency-shaped front-end boost is applied toward the top to tighten those crunch tones. The Iridium's central control acts like a Tone Cut, rolling off the treble right before you reach those virtual power tubes.

Punch: If you want meaty cleans with knobs-at-11 high gains, the Iridium Punch amp preset might be for you. This amp preset is based on a British hundred-watter. The Iridium's gain settings of 2:00 give you the classic Plexiglas-paneled growl and snarling. You can open the throttle to reach hot-rod Van Halen territory.

There are Nine Onboard Speaker Cabs

The Strymon Iridium ships with nine different speaker cabinet impulse reactions (IRs) from top third-party manufacturers such as Celestion Digital and OwnHammer. These IRs were found to be an excellent starting point for all of the onboard amps by Sweetwater. There was very little to do. The Iridium allows you to load custom or homemade cab-IRs into the device over USB with the Strymon Impulse Manager. It supports mono/stereo files of up to 500ms in 24-bit/96kHz.

Hybrid Digital/Analog

The Iridium's amp-like response comes down to its Class A JFET circuit. This preamp circuit provides familiar touch dynamics as well as 20 dB pure analog gain to boost or saturate your input.

ARM/SHARC

The SHARC processors of Strymon pedals are well-known, and the Iridium is no exception. Its ability to handle the heavy lifting, both an amp modeler and a 500ms stereo IR convolver, is what makes it unique. The Iridium has an ARM coprocessor optimized for high-speed communication to the SHARC ADSP-21375. This gives it the seamless response of an analog pedal.
